چکیده

Recent work in the design of agent interaction protocols has focused on applications involving dialectical argumentation — the giving and receiving of reasons for statements. Yet no widely-accepted standard set of locutions exist for such argument. Drawing on both speech act theory and the philosophy of communicative action, we first present a novel typology of speech acts for agent communications. We use this as the basis for proposing an interaction protocol comprising five locutions we consider necessary for argumentation. Both an axiomatic and an operational semantics are given for the protocol.

Reverse Engineering of Network Software Binary Codes for Identification of Syntax and Semantics of Protocol Messages

Reverse engineering of network applications especially from the security point of view is of high importance and interest. Many network applications use proprietary protocols which specifications are not publicly available. Reverse engineering of such applications could provide us with vital information to understand their embedded unknown protocols. This could facilitate many tasks including d...

Argumentation and Artifacts for Negotiation Support

Negotiation is a central process in an agent society where autonomous agents have to cooperate in order to resolve conflicting interests and yet compete to divide limited resources. A direct dialogical exchange of information between agents usually leads to competitive forms of negotiation where the most powerful agents win. Alternatively, an intelligent mediated interaction may better achieve ...

The Posit Spaces Protocol for Multi-agent Negotiation

We present the syntax and an axiomatic semantics for a protocol for multi-agent negotiation, the Posit Spaces Protocol or PSP. This protocol enables participants in a multi-agent commercial interaction to propose, accept, modify and revoke joint commitments. Our work integrates three strands of prior research: the theory of Tuple Spaces in distributed computation; formal dialogue games from arg...

Argumentation for Machine Learning: A Survey

Existing approaches using argumentation to aid or improve machine learning differ in the type of machine learning technique they consider, in their use of argumentation and in their choice of argumentation framework and semantics. This paper presents a survey of this relatively young field highlighting, in particular, its achievements to date, the applications it has been used for as well as th...
